Mat Ball

This video clip is from the game of Mat Ball. This game is very fun for the kids. It is a combination of kickball and dodgeball. Cool thing is when someone gets out they come up and kick next, that way no one sits OUT! Check it out.........these are not my kids! Notice that the students do not have to run from base to base when the ball is kicked. They get to pick and choose when they want to move. Also notice when the students on defense want the others to stop moving they throw the ball to the person in the middle of the field.  http://www.tubechop.com/watch/222417

Also check out my prezi! I really like this tool! Hope it goes over with these 4th graders we will be teaching! http://prezi.com/nzkhxfvjgeln/ben-bails-curriculum-project/ It is still a work in progress!

Curriculum Project

Have a look at what I am going to attempt in my 8th grade PE class. There is also a little video and questions to answer in a Healthy E-Sheet link and also a couple of websites to take a look at for other ways to stay healthy.

Classroom Use

In my classroom/ Gym I would really like to use this Blog to have students respond to a journal topic I have posted or even have them research something I posted to reply to. I think this tool would be a great idea to allow students to explore my subject areas and really incoporate technology into my curriculum.

Curriculum Project

Check out my new Curiiculum Project https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_poS-86dQc3qETUnquBTEI6a_ZkLeVc3pSFoQ8O2jWs/edit?hl=en_US.  This project will be tough since Skype is not available through my district but if I can convince my principal and our tech guy this may happen. My wife has already agreed to have me attempt this with her school in South Omaha. She too is a PE Teacher (Elementary)! I am very excited to get this going!

Dance Dance

In this video the teacher describes how using Dance Dance Revolution in her classroom has increased her students' physical fitness by raising their heart rate while dancing. This program is unbelievably sucessful throughout the PE world. I have never used this program due to proper funding, but I have seen this done in really good classrooms and it works and it is really fun. The students really adapt to it when using upbeat music and more recent tunes. It increases every students heart rate and you can tell this if each student wears a pedometer while performing the dances. I would love to try this becasue the results are there and it has proven itself in many gyms throughout the world.

HEY HEY HEY!!!!!

Hello! My name is Ben Bails, I teach middle school PE and Human Growth and Development. My school is located in Omaha, Ne and I am creating this blog for a graduate class I am taking but I really want to use this page as a place for PE teachers to place their ideas for lessons or maybe just talk Sports.
